Frequently Asked Questions - (XHTML and Reports)

How does a writer or artist make their own website with limited funds?

You don't really need any funds! But you do need to spend some time.

I've made a guide to help people start as quickly as possible. All the software you need is a plain text editor, and most of the lengthy code you can copy and paste.

I use XHTML (the latest and best version of HTML) and CSS (Cascading Stylesheets) so all the formatting for your site is in one file. Every page on your site links to the stylesheet so there is no duplication of the code. The included website templates contain everything you need to get started and there is a guide to customise your own site once you are ready to do so.

I've used the 'transitional' version of XHTML, since the 'strict' version is very unforgiving.

There are excellent, comprehensive guides to HTML and forums online. This guide is designed to give the quickest start and to include useful information that isn't just about coding. The Newsletter answers every question I am able to, or points to other places that are more appropriate. The design site is here:-

What's happened to the Chairentity's/Generation 7's Reports?

They were becoming less like 'Reports' and more like 'stories', so now they are posted into the Short Stories section.

Lyrics

Many visitors have arrived at the lyrics for my song 'The Calling' who were really looking for songs BY 'The Calling'. Several have complained! I've found whatever lyrics I can by The Calling and posted them on the original page, now re-named Lyrics by The Calling . My lyrics have moved to My song - The Calling .
