Failed climate change promises
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8376009.stm
Large sums promised to developing countries to help them tackle climate change cannot be accounted for, a BBC investigation has found.
Rich countries pledged $410m (£247m) a year in a 2001 declaration – but it is now unclear whether the money was paid.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has accused industrialised countries [...]
Witless Ones decimate Planet Earth
All today’s news appears to be bad, which is pretty much what rampant consumerism merits:
US President might attend the Planetary Destruction Summit
if he’s nought better to do …
The US plans to announce its own targets for cutting greenhouse gases before the UN Climate Summit in December, but the president hasn’t yet decided if [...]
teensie car goes into production
Just over 200,000 orders for the Tata world’s cheapest car have been received, say the company. this is in their first month of production. environmentally worrying, only 20% of orders were for the cheapest model; however cheapest doesn’t necessarily mean most miles per litre …

She’s brown and white. Looking somewhat like an extra large sparrow. The male doesn’t like other visitors to feeder, chasing away the Goldfinches.

The team used weather data, satellite readings and models of ice sheet behaviour to analyse the annual loss of 273 thousand million tonnes of ice.
Melting of the entire sheet would raise sea [...]
The small house movement
There is now a movement to build smaller houses instead of the giant mansions that were so popular. Of course, the people who still drive their SUV’s would never touch one, but does anyone really need a house any bigger than those featured here?

Well, well. I do believe I’ve found something old Doucher may find interesting:

The links seem to go around in circles a bit, but it’s a good idea. I recall a holly tree that was used all year around as a shelter for a tractor. Maybe it would do for me in a warmer clime …
