    wild bamboo

I was surprised to discover this growing wild on the edge of a local wood. No doubt it was ‘introduced’, but it seems nowadays to thrive in the wild.

Poddle the boat builder – resident of Smogdale, Upnorth, UK.
He’s experienced life’s up and downs, and now considers himself wiser than most. The AloeVeras call such animals HairyMammals, in contrast to their semi-conducting selves.

    Painting – 3 Sisters

A watercolour of 3 sisters, from the story ‘The House of Stone’. (Link above)
‘Picture a small stone cottage with half the thatch missing, heat haze and dragonflies over the weed-filled, stagnant pond, in the undulating, slate- and granite-strewn hills of north-west England,’ says the story.

    St Nectan’s Glen, Rocky Valley

St Nectan’s Glen is at Trethevy on the Boscastle to Tintagel road. There are many footpaths in the area, and it can also be reached from Halgabron.
The waterfall is at St Nectan’s Kieve, but the approach up river is even more beatiful:

    The Fabled City of Cameldung

The home of Arthur, King of Albion, the Britons and the fabled sword, Expeditor.

Not to be confused with Camelot or Camelford – this character appears in an imminent short story, which also features Blonde and Witless. Lord D has done illustrations for all the recent poems and stories. and thanks to him

a hedge is much better than a fence

Imagine there was a fence around this field … or a wall. Not only would it look worse, it would be the same all the year round. And it wouldn’t (or woodn’t!) provide firewood, habitat for mammals and insects …
