Boscastle cottages in the river valley

cottages in Boscastle valley

The beautiful cottages aren't on a slope; it's me trying not to fall down the hill ...

These cottages are in the river valley that famously, and rather alarmingly, flooded in 2004.

Another plant question,(pardon me but I'm a gardener)is that a type of palm to the upper right of the cottage.I wasn't aware that England had the climate for tropicals. Also, I've never seen such a colorful hydrangea bush before. Wish you could have gotten a close up of it.

There are plenty of palm trees near the coast. Even though it's not a hot place (compared to your 'air you can wear) being very near Atlantic keeps the likelihood of frost very low. One bonus of this is very early Cornish New Potatoes - a month earlier on the coast than just a few miles inland.

There are no end of impressive hydrangea bushes around here. Something acid helps promote the blue tint. I think iron sulphate or similar.
