The Vessel
Verse 12/8 // Am E7 / C Adim /
/ F E / Am E7 //
(*) // A D / A D / A D / E E7 //
Junior Jobstart jumps the mail by my door,
There's mountains to hurdle and he's bringing more.
'Buy your gas from electric,' he smiles and I'm fazed,
'Or was it vice-versa?' he stutters, he's glazed.
I run to the town to escape from the deal.
He'd carried a card to convince us he's real.
(*)
Within there's a vessel - it's priceless and free.
Being near it is scary - I was tempted to flee.
Heading into the market there's a hand on my back,
I turn and then sigh - Mr. Sales-Attack.
He propels me up steps, along aisles and gangways.
There's acres of screens, many shelves and displays.
But when we look down it's a dangerous height.
We can descend safely but it takes all our might.

Like my neighbours and friends I fought shy of the void.
I woke up to Wogan and went cooking with Floyd.
Mr. Sales-Attack is now disconcerted,
'cause I'm going home and his plans are inverted.
I'll recycle junk mail and enter a trance,
Put my wallet to bed, I will sing, I may dance.
(*)
Within there's a vessel - it's priceless and free.
Being near it is scary - I was tempted to flee,
Into gizmos and glitter, far away from my task.
But it's where I belong - the alchemical flask.
Junior Jobstart jumps the mail by my door,
There's mountains to hurdle and he's bringing more.
