Writers and Artists Showcase
In late 2005 (I think) the vague and disorganised one began a showcase for writers, artists and such. The original plan was to promote their work, but this already feels quite dated.
Nowadays the showcase aims to encourage people to develop and promote their own independent sites. With free blogs, cheap hosting, feeds and custom domains there's no reason why anyone with an old PC shouldn't develop their own web presence with the freedom that entails.
