For anyone diabetic or pre-diabetic – beans as a substitute for plain carbs (potato, root veg, bread) works for many people. The protein and fibre content of beans slows their digestion compared to refined or concentrated carbohydrates.

Beans are good….except for the methane problem they create. :/
True – the English split peas (a new favourite of mine) don’t seem to be ‘blessed’ with such gifts (!) They are more straightforward to cook too.
